Proactiv Review

Proactiv, The Most Popular Acne Treatment

Proactiv is the most popular acne treatment on the market today - with many celebrities endorsing this product, it's quite obvious why Proactiv is #1 in popularity. In my review, I will be exposing Proactiv for what it really is. This acne treatment was developed by 2 Dermatologists, and it has been the pioneer for many of the newer acne treatments today.

How Proactiv Works

The Proactiv acne kit is a 3-step system proven to battle acne from 2 of the main sources of acne:

#1: Bacteria

#2: Clogged Pores

Acne forms when dead skin cells and sebum (oil) mix, forming a clogged pore. Bacteria trapped inside the pore will thrive and multiply, making the clogged pore into a painful red pimple.

Proactiv uses benzoyl peroxide to combat bacteria. Benzoyl peroxide is very effective against bacteria, however we will reveal to you the downside of this chemical later. Proactiv also has an exfoliant which gently removes dead skin cells from the skin.

The only thing Proactiv doesn't combat is inbalances in the body. Very few products can do this, and most people normally do not need to combat this issue.

Success Rate of Proactiv

Proactiv has decent success rates, especially for those with mild to moderate acne. For those with persistent acne, Proactiv probably won't work.

There is also the possibility of experiencing initial positive results with Proactiv. Proactiv uses the chemical benzoyl peroxide to battle acne bacteria. This chemical doesn't work for long periods of time (Roughly 3 - 6 months). For reasons not quite known, the bacteria soon become resistent to low concentrations of benzoyl peroxide. Since benzoyl peroxide is the main ingredient that makes Proactiv work, once this chemical stops working, the entire Proactiv acne system stops working. This is why we promote the Exposed Acne System, which fights off acne bacteria in a variety of ways.

Overall Opinion of Proactiv

Proactiv does work to help treat acne, and if it doesn't cure it, it will at least reduce the amount of acne on the skin. However, it depends heavily on benzoyl peroxide working. Once benzoyl peroxide stops working, this acne treatment will stop working as well.
